Vacancy Short Description : This Equine Apprenticeship is based at a popular competition centre and livery yard.

 

Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades 9- 4 (A-C) Evidence of qualifications will be required.
For applicants without these entry requirments an invitation will be sent to attend a maths and English assessment.
Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Vacancy Full Description : Responsibilites include supprting both the livery yard and the competition centre. On the yard the role includes feeding, turing in, mucking out, changing rugs, skipping out and poo picking. At the competition centre the role includes supporitng a schedule of show jumping and dressage competitions with course building, judging, scoring and planning.
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 5 days per week to include 1 day at weekends. Total 35 hrs per week. 8am-4pm (1 hr unpaid for lunch)
Salary : £152.25 Per Week

Personal Qualities : Positive, hard-working, reliable, willing to learn new skills.
Skills Required : Experience of horses, confident to lead horses on a lead rein.

Training to be Provided : Equine Groom Standard including Functional Skills in Maths and English if required
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour with effect from 1st April 2019. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. Things to consider : The yard involves outside work throughout the year as the horses need to be brought in and out of the paddocks. The yard requires reasonable physical fitness.
