Vacancy Short Description : An Exciting opportunity to join a fast growing independent garden centre within their plant area department.

 

Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-C or 9- 4. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
PLEASE NOTE: Those without the stated entry requirements or awaiting GCSE/GCSE retake grades, may be offered an appointment to come into college (Easton or Otley campus) and sit an online assessment to confirm program suitability.
Vacancy Full Description : We are looking for a full time apprentice to come and learn or develop their skills within the horticultural sector along with gaining additional skills along the way, you will receive full support throughout your apprenticeship along with one to one training with our qualified Plant area Manger.
After the qualification is complete there is an opportunity to join us on a full time basis and even take that first step on to the Management ladder.

Working with our Plant area, ensuring the plants are looked after this involves:
- pruning,
-watering,
-pest control
-overall health of the plants
- replacement of stock and displays of seasonal stock.

You will be giving customers advice where needed in relation to location and conditions that the plants require to ensure optimum health.

Working Week : 37.5 - 5 days over a 7 day week 9-5 or 930-530
Salary : £150.00 Per Week

We would like the successful apprentice to move in to a supervisor or Management Role.

Hourly Rate after a successful 6 months move to £4.50 after 12month £5.00
After course completion if offered full time employment £9 per hour if moves in to supervisors role.
Training to be Provided : Qualification: Horticulture Framework Level 2
College Attendance: NONE
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour with effect from 1st April 2019. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
