Vacancy Short Description : Working with your Mentor (Estate Manager) to maintain & enhance woodland and other environmental features on a 1300 acre estate near Bungay, Suffolk.
Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-C or 9- 4. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
PLEASE NOTE: Those without the stated entry requirements or awaiting GCSE/GCSE retake grades, may be offered an appointment to come into college (Easton or Otley campus) and sit an online assessment to confirm program suitability.
Vacancy Full Description : Woodland work will include:
-planting new and replacement woodland,
- wood processing for biomass fuel.
Estate work will include hedge maintenance including trimming, planting, gapping up & weed control. Other work may include tractor driving, mowing, strimming, knapsack spraying, fencing & grassland maintenance.
Training will be provided where required to national qualification standards.

Working Week : Monday - Friday 40 hours, times to be confirmed
Salary : £156.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : Enthusiasm for the countryside, working outside for the majority of the time and keeness to learn new skills in a varied role.
Skills Required : Clean driving licence due to location
Future Prospects : During Apprenticeship after successfully completing 1 month weekly pay will increase to £180/week & after successfully completing 6 months weekly pay will increase to £200. Following successful completion of the Apprenticeship a full time permanent position may be offered.
Training to be Provided : Intermediate Countryside Management - Environmental Conservation Level 2 including Functional Skills in Maths and English if required
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour with effect from 1st April 2019. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
