Vacancy Full Description : The successful applicant will work a number of areas and jobs.
These include a wide range of tractor operations, including cultivations learning to set up and calibrate machinery; care and maintenance of machinery and vehicles using a well-equipped work shop. Grading products, repairing fences and buildings Weeding and laying fleece,
Comprehensive training is provided and a detailed induction is completed in full for all tasks along with a full risk assessments. All staff must adhere to all Health & Safety regulations.

Personal Qualities : A positive attitude is the key quality along with a good work ethic and a pride in a job well done and a strong desire to learn and progress. Attention to detail, good time management, being prepared to be flexible on hours at peak periods , with the ability to communicate and work as part of a team whilst able to work on your own once trained; Much of the work is tractor based so being physically fit and enjoying working outdoors is important.
Skills Required : Ideally the successful candidate will have GCSE grade 4 or above in both English and Maths. A practical, hands on person with an interest in mechanics and computers; who is numerate and able to keep accurate neat records. A previous knowledge of farming not necessary, the farm is experienced at training people from non-farming backgrounds. The successful candidate must meet the safety requirements to drive a 7.5 t vehicle on the road.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour with effect from 1st April 2019. (£ 3.90 from April 2019) This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Apprentices need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week in the industry with a contract of employment

20 minutes (paid) breakfast break. 30 minutes (unpaid) lunch break
Over Time will be paid at commercial rates.

Things to consider : Meeting the health and safety requirements to drive a 7.5 t vehicle/machine on the pubic highway is essential as machinery will need to be taken on busy roads. During the summer months hours will be longer to meet harvest requirements with all over time will be paid at commercial overtime rates. Must be comfortable working outside in all weathers as this is predominantly outdoor work
