Vacancy Short Description : Culford school seeks to employ a young and motivated individual who wishes to learn about sports turf in a professional environment within a large private school & estate.


Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-C or 9- 4. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
PLEASE NOTE: Those without the stated entry requirements or awaiting GCSE/GCSE retake grades, may be offered an appointment to come into college (Easton or Otley campus) and sit an online assessment to confirm program suitability.
Vacancy Full Description : Reporting to the Head of Grounds and Gardens and working & learning from the head of grounds & gardens & his deputy the successful candidate will undertake the following duties;
• End of season renovations
• Preseason preparations
• Match preparation & match day preparation
• All facets of sports turf management from fertilization to scarification
• All aspects of turf husbandry
• Sports played;

• Cricket
• Rugby
• Hockey
• Football
• Golf
• Tennis
• Netball
• Estate maintenance

This an apprenticeship in sports turf and the correct candidate must have a basic knowledge of the practicalities of sports turf and the demands it places on the turf.

Working Week : 37.5 hrs 7.5 hrs per day
Salary : £163.46 Per Week

Training to be Provided : Intermediate Horticulture - Sports turf, grounds person including Functional Skills in Maths and English if required
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour with effect from 1st April 2018. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
