Vacancy Short Description : A fantastic opportunity to be on the first cohort of learners undertaking the new Advanced Apprenticeship Standard in Agricultural Crop Production.
Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-C or 9- 4. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
PLEASE NOTE: Those without the stated entry requirements or awaiting GCSE/GCSE retake grades, may be offered an appointment to come into college (Easton or Otley campus) and sit an online assessment to confirm program suitability.

Personal Qualities : You will be hard working understanding the importance of good time keeping and the need for flexibility on hours depending on business needs. You will understand that you will need to gain a full range of skills including mechanical engineering to support the smooth operation of the farms needs.Ideally you would show a desire to work with root crops in particular.
Skills Required : Ideally you will be local with an understanding of rural life. You will have a genuine passion to begin a career in agriculture with the desire to undertake all the qualifications necessary to make you a valued crop technician. This will include further qualifications such as PA1 2 and 6 Teleporter and Tractor licence. A personal goal for achieving a high standard of work is important to us.
Future Prospects : For the right candidate who proves to be hard working, flexible on hours to meet business needs, along with the dedication to complete their academic studies as part of the apprenticeship, the long term prospects of a full time position are excellent.
Training to be Provided : Intermediate Agriculture Level 2 qualifcation including Functional Skills in Maths and English if required
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour with effect from 1st Octl 2018. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
