Vacancy Short Description : We are looking for people with a passion for working outdoors with animals/livestock to join our successful pig farming business. This is a 12-18 month apprenticeship to enable you to earn whilst you learn and develop a career for yourself.

 

Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to thorough initial assessment to clarify course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSE's including English and Maths at grades A - E or 9 - 3. Applicants without A- C / 9 - 4 grades will be asked to attend on Campus for an assessment in Maths and English.

We are currently looking for two Apprentice Stockpeople to join us:

This is a 12-18 month apprenticeship in partnership with Easton and Otley College. You will work on one of our farming units based in the Brecklands Monday to Friday with block release for college. You need to have a passion for working outdoors with animals/livestock, coupled with a great work ethic.

You will be responsible for the welfare of the pigs on the units and duties will include:
• Feeding sows
• Strawing up huts
• Moving sows
• Weaning piglets
• Fallen stock removal
• Artificial insemination
• Identification of illness
• Administering vaccinations and medicine
• Practicing good bio-security
• Accurate record keeping

You’ll achieve a level 2 diploma in agriculture and ready for a career in the farming industry.

By the end of the apprenticeship, you will have developed the knowledge and skills to kick start your career in the farming industry.
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : Monday to Friday, approx. 7:30-16:30
Salary : £200.00 Per Week

Future Prospects : Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you will have developed the skills and knowledge to move in to a full time Stockperson role. Training to be Provided : Qualification : Level 2 in agriculture/Livestock

College Attendance: Easton block week 1 in approx. every 6 weeks

Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.
