Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-E or 9- 3. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Vacancy Full Description : The apprentice will assist the main mechanic working on a wide range of jobs in a modern well equipped workshop. The business deals in used farm machinery, tractors and JCBs , telehandlers etc. so work will include repairing and servicing a range of manufactures tractors and machinery with scope to learn about diagnostics, hydraulics, electronics, welding and fabrication. Unlike a manufacture’s dealership the work load is spread evenly across the year so the workshop is not putting in the long hours at harvest often associated with agriculture.
This role would be suitable for a Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship depending on applicants past experience and qualifications

Working Week : 40 hrs Monday to Fridays 8am to 5pm
Salary : £200.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : A tidy methodical person, a good listener who takes care to follow instructions, an accurate record keeper who is practical, has good communication skills and is happy to talk to customers once trained. A reliable message taker.
Skills Required : A hands on mechanically minded person who enjoys problem solving and fixing things. Someone with a naturally enquiring mind and an interest in how things works.
Future Prospects : A full time position will be available for the right person once qualified. Plenty of scope to take work based certificates such as welding and use of abrasive wheels.
Training to be Provided : Qualification:Land based Engineering Level 2 or L3
College Attendance: at Easton- Block weeks to timetable
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour with effect from 1st April 2018. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Things to consider : The job although largely workshop based will be carrying out work both indoors and outside, this can be at any time of year so great in summer sunshine but more challenging in winter , It’s hands on, using oil and grease so overalls will be provided.
