Vacancy Short Description : Busy livery yard requires enthusiastic horse lover to work in our friendly team.
Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-E or 9- 3. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
Vacancy Full Description : To carry out all aspects of daily care of horse, under supervision and support of our team.
Main tasks include:-
- Mucking out
- Rug changing
- Care of fields

Skills Required : Essential – Good communication, tidy and organised
Desirable – Rider and Horse aware
Future Prospects : Good training in both riding care and competition work. Will prepare any student for a range of groom jobs
Training to be Provided : Qualification: Level 2 Horsecare
College Attendance: There is no regular college attendance required as the qualification is delivered almost entirely in the workplace.
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour with effect from 1st April 2017. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Working Week: Typically Mon-Fri, 35 hours a week, 8am-4pm (1 hour Lunch), however, there may be the occasional requirement for weekend working.
