Vacancy Short Description : Working on an outdoor pig breeding unit. based at
450 sow unit for Easey Pigs Ltd, farrowing every 3 weeks producing 500 plus weaners. The piglets remain on their mothers for approximately 4 weeks before being weaned and moved to nursery/fattening units.
Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-E or 9- 2. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.

Personal Qualities : Keen to learn, common sense, must enjoy being outside, experience with driving a tractor is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
Skills Required : Must have a keen interest in working with and the welfare of livestock. Someone who is very observant when checking the animals, willing to learn and willing to work under instruction from the senior member of staff.
Future Prospects : Potential for full time employment at the end of the Apprenticeship as the business develops.
Training to be Provided : Qualification: Level 2 Agriculture (Livestock)
College Attendance: Block release to college during term time at the Easton Campus of Easton & Otley College.
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8weeks. There may be occasional need to attend the college for short training courses and tests.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour from April 2017. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
Working Week: Monday-Friday, minimum of 30 hours per week, some weekend work will be required.
