Vacancy Short Description : Excellent opportunity on a large farm which will provide the opportunity to learn skills needed in modern arable farming and gain work based certificates. Scope to develop into a full time post. The family has a good track record of training apprentices.
Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-D or 9- 4. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Vacancy Full Description : To join a friendly family run team on a busy arable farm giving plenty of opportunities to learn a wide range of skills including:
• Primary and secondary cultivations
• Tractor and machinery maintenance
• Trailer and teleporter work, corn carting.
• Grain store work including loading lorries
• All aspects of hay making, some sheep husbandry inc lambing

Working Week : Mon-Fri 7.30am-4pm, 39 hrs p.w.
Salary : £195.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : Someone who understands and enjoys the countryside, is observant. Who is happy working outdoors and takes pride in their work.
Non Smoker who is physically fit.
Skills Required : Full clean driving license is essential as you will be required to drive farm machinery on the public highway. A practical, mechanically minded, hands on person, who is numerate and an accurate record keeper. A good team worker who is equally capable of working on their own once trained. Someone who is keen to learn, is familiar with computer technology and will respect high value machinery.
Future Prospects : Scope for the right candidate to take work based certificates such as teleporter, PA1 & PA2, quadbike, track machine.
Opportunity to progress to a full time post on qualifying.
Training to be Provided : Qualification: Level 3 Agriculture (Arable)
College Attendance: Approximately 1 week in 6 block release at both the Easton & Otley Campuses during term time.
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour with effect from 1st April 2017. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Working Week: Monday-Friday, 7.30am-4pm including breaks, 39 hours per week.
