Qualifications Required : Entry onto the apprenticeship is subject to a thorough initial assessment to establish course suitability. Applicants should have at least 4 GCSEs including English and Maths at grades A-E or 9- 2. Apprentices need to be employed for minimum of 30 hours a week in the industry with a contract of employment.
Proof of qualifications will be required before you can be accepted onto the apprenticeship.
An equine qualification would be desirable but not essential for the Intermediate Apprenticeship (level 2).
For the Advanced Apprenticeship (level 3) you must hold a Diploma in Work-based Horse Care Level 2 or British Horse Society Stage 2
Vacancy Full Description : Full time position to report to yard manager. Working 5 days per week, weekends included.
Main responsibilities are:
- General yard work
- Turn out and bring in horses
- Cleaning tack
- Provide horse healthcare
- Exercise horses
Must be happy to work with fit competition horses.

Working Week : 40 hrs p.w. days/times tbc
Salary : £148.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : Hard working, good communication and organisational skills, cheerful, good team working skills and a love of horses.
Skills Required : Previous horse care experience and riding would be useful.
Future Prospects : Previous students have gone on to be yard managers, competition grooms/riders.
Training to be Provided : Equine Level 2 or 3 depending on previous qualifications.
College Attendance: There is no regular college attendance required as the qualification is delivered almost entirely in the workplace.
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The current NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.50 per hour (effective from 1st April 2017). This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Working Week: 5 days/40 hrs per week. Days/times to be confirmed.
