Qualifications Required : Minimum of 3 x GCSE’s at Grade C/4 or above, including Maths and English, (or equivalent)
Vacancy Full Description : Your duties will include but not be limited to the following tasks

• Monitoring and maintaining health and safety
• Maintain and develop personal performance
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
• Preparing ground for seeding and planting
• Maintain the health of sports turf
• Maintain the condition of sports turf surfaces
• Renovate and repair sports turf surfaces
• Use and maintain non-powered and hand held powered tools and equipment
• Use and maintain pedestrian controlled powered equipment
Number of Positions Available : 1
Working Week : 37.5hrs p.w. Days/times tbc
Salary : £138.75 Per Week

Personal Qualities : You should be prepared to work hard in a pressured environment. You must have good communication skills. Accurate reporting is vital therefore you should possess reasonable numeracy and literacy skills.
You should understand the importance of making the right impression at an interview. You will need to work well within a team environment.
Skills Required : The successful candidate must demonstrate a passion for outdoor horticultural sports surface operations in general. The successful candidate will understand the opportunity that this apprenticeship has for the development of a long term career as a specialist amenity horticulture apprentice within one of the largest facilities management companies in the UK. You must want to work in outdoor environments.
Future Prospects : Excellent prospects of a full time role with further development and training for the successful candidate that proves to be reliable hardworking and flexible.
Training to be Provided : Qualification: Diploma in Amenity Horticulture (Sports Turf) Level 2
College Attendance: There is no regular college attendance required as the qualification is delivered almost entirely in the workplace.
Training for all job specific tasks will be given. In addition the apprentice will have the support and guidance of a qualified assessor from the college, who will make on-site visits every 6-8 weeks. There may be the occasional need to attend either the Otley or Easton campus for short training courses and tests.
Other Information : Pay Rates: The NMW rate for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training. Working Week: Days/Times to be advised. 37.5 hours per week

Although the location as your base is as advertised above, you will be expected to travel to other locations managed by Vertas in the surrounding area.

There is works transport, however, a driving licence would be beneficial or at least the plan to achieve.
